Necked shank 3 flute high helix end mills
Necked Back endmills generally run stub LOCs with the LBS being 2-3x or more for reach. However, I do run many long LOC endmills that are necked back for finishing though. Such as a 1" with 3-1/4 LOC and a 7" LBS at 10" OAL (as an example). Curt's remark about the variable helix has some ground too. However, the theory is still "out for testing".
