I removed the rubber guard off the end of the impact and measured the nose and used a scrap chunk of 6061 AL to make the bottom clamp for the impact. The pinch bolt is 1/4-20.

Ive got a bridgeport type mill, r8 spindle. Im in the process of designing and building a power drawbar using a butterfly impact, as done by many on youtube. My question is this. What torque should be made on the drawbar when tight? Does it vary with cutter size? Does a 1/4" endmill need the same torque as a r8 4" facemill?

I think that, to reliably install a chuck, arbor, or collet, I should turn the draw bar down until it snugs against the quill. Then using the wrench, take up any remaining slack, and then add 1/4 turn or thereabouts. I think that any more torque is just overkill. My Bridgeport has a 7/16-20 drawbar.
